Vaporizers are a much more efficient and less harmful way to smoke your herbal product, as vaporizing avoids the toxins that smoking causes. According to studies, by heating herbs to a point where vapors are formed but before the herb combusts, herbal vaporizers create a clear substance that is practically free of many of the toxins found when other smoking methods are used.
As the herbs are heated in a vaporiser, they give off essential oils and vaporization occurs, hence the toke is nearly smokeless.
Vaporizer customers have said that benefits include not having the harshness you get from smoking, with no next-morning cough or shortness of breath. Plus, many users say, marijuana vaporizers use less marijuana than other smoking devices, so they are saving money in the long run.
Cannabis vaporization is a technique for avoiding irritating respiratory toxins in marijuana smoke by heating cannabis to a temperature where the psychoactive ingredients evaporate without causing combustion. Laboratory studies by California NORML and MAPS have found that marijuana vaporizers can efficiently deliver cannabinoids while eliminating or drastically reducing other smoke toxins. Like tobacco, marijuana smoke contains toxins that are known to be hazardous to the respiratory system. These toxins are essentially a byproduct of combustion, separate from the pharmaceutically active components of marijuana, known as cannabinoids, which include THC. When one vaporizes, one may avoid these harmful compounds, whether one is smoking marijuana, or another herbal smoke.
Alternative devices, such as waterpipes, have been shown to be ineffective at reducing the tars in marijuana smoke. When researching waterpipes and their value, it was found that contrary to popular impression, waterpipes don't necessarily protect smokers from harmful tars in marijuana smoke, according to a study sponsored by MAPS and California NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws). The reason is that waterpipes filter out more psychoactive THC than they do other tars, thereby requiring users to smoke more to reach their desired effect. The study does not rule out the possibility that waterpipes could have other benefits, such as filtering out gases, but it suggests that other methods, such as the use of high potency marijuana, vaporizers, or oral ingestion are needed to avoid harmful toxins in marijuana smoke.
Those who are concerned about the respiratory hazards of smoking are strongly advised to use herbal vaporizers. There are many vaporizers out there, with a wide range of prices. And of course, you can always build your own cheap vaporizer for pennies - often with stuff lying around your house. See our instructions on how to build your own vaporiser.
